Bonnie was born in Florence. Alabama to Dorothy and Lonnie James, Sr. She was the middle sister of Fred James and Lonnie James, Jr. The family migrated to East New York in Brooklyn, NY when she was 6 years old.
Bonnie attended John Dewey H.S. in Coney Island, NY. Graduating a year early, she proceeded to Brooklyn College for one year and was recruited to attend the prestigious School of Business and Industry at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL. There she met Craig Glover. They became friends, dated and married in 1985. She was an incredible mother to Matthew and Benjamin Glover as the family lived all over the state of Florida.
Bonnie’s professional dreams included becoming an author and writer. She graduated Stetson Law School, became a licensed attorney, clerked for 4 judges, then joined the VA where she led their mediation team and trained mediators across the country. In support of Craig’s career, the family relocated to NJ for three years, where Bonnie focused on parenting and writing. Her pursuit led to being published by Random House. Her 1st book The Middle Sister was internationally recognized, while Going Down South was a finalist for an NAACP Image Award. For an encore, Bonnie and Craig started two successful businesses, including A Better Way Home Care, where Bonnie was Administrator and the heart of the agency. Bonnie also most recently served on the board of Unity of the Palm Beaches.
Bonnie’s greatest gift was her ability to see the best in people, love and connect with them. She was beloved, beautiful, smart, kind, loyal, forgiving, joyful, accomplished, resilient, funny and a blessing to all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the James-Glover Scholarship fund, in honor of Bonnie, at the School of Business at Florida A&M University - https://my.famu.edu/donation/gloverscholarship .
Bonnie is survived by Craig, Matt and Ben, her brothers Fred and Lonnie, loving extended family and the family that she chose.
Lovingly and gratefully submitted,
Craig Glover
