Brenda Sherman Brown was born the eldest daughter to Dennis and Mable Sherman on September 8, 1944. She is survived by her 2 younger sisters, Gloria Pugh and Beverly Reese; and preceded in death by her 3 older brothers, Clarence Davis and Freddy and Dennis Sherman Jr.
Brenda was a graduate of the Roosevelt High School Class of 1962 and married her husband, US Army Sergeant, William “Willie” Brown, on July 31, 1966. After leaving the Army, the Brown’s welcomed a healthy son, William III. 5 years later, on the evening of their 9th wedding anniversary, they also welcomed a daughter, Leontyne.
After 15 years in banking, Brenda, with the support of her husband, pursued her desire to teach. After obtaining a degree in education, she dedicated her entire teaching career to the students and staff of Roosevelt Middle School. She officially retired as a teacher from Roosevelt to focus on full-time care of her husband until his passing in December 2011.
Earnestly devoting herself to Christ has been one of Brenda’s greatest joys. She became a member of a new ministry, founded by her Cousin Jeffrey Walker* and his wife Faye Walker* in (insert date) and remained a devoted member until she became ill. Brenda served in several roles throughout her years within the Ministry, including Sunday School Superintendent, Children’s Church Instructor, Hospitality Ministry Member, Women’s Ministry Leader, and Intercessory Prayer Member.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Brown will be held on Saturday, May 28th at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church (1111 36th Street, WPBch, FL). Visitation will begin at 10a and the service will begin promptly at 11am.
