Obituary for Calvin Falana

Calvin P. Falana was born August 10, 1958 in West Palm Beach, FL to Bessie Mae and the late Charles P. Falana.

Calvin graduated from North Shore High School in 1976 and South Carolina State University in 1980 where he proudly played the tuba/trombone and pledged Kappa Kappa Psi. After graduating and coming back home he pledged Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He was a true music lover, hard worker, and family man. He served as a taxi driver, a real estate agent, and a Mail Handler for the United States Postal Service for over 33 years.

On Sunday, September 5, 2021, Calvin took the Lord’s hand and transitioned home. Calvin is survived by his loving mother, Bessie Mae Falana; two brothers: King Falana and Charles (Yevola) Falana; sister-in-law, Linda Falana; He was blessed with three loving children: Cartilya Falana, Christopher Falana, and Zambia Falana; four grandchildren: Briana Smith, Dominique Tolbert, Jr., Christen Falana, and Stephen Irvin, Jr.; one unborn great-granddaughter; two uncles: Anthony Falana and Lucius (Joy) Smith. Special nieces that he raised like his own: Shaneka Falana, Simona Falana, and Sophia Falana. Close cousins: Darrell and Kim Falana, Harold Finley, and Kyle Smith. Best friends: Wendell Hall, Billy Hardy, John Jenkins, George Montgomery, and Jerome Walker. He also leaves behind a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends that he loved dearly.

Preceding him in death whom he missed dearly were his grandmother: Mary B. White aka Granny; father: Charles P. Falana; two siblings: Roger Falana, Sr. and Jacqueline Menefee; and nephew: Roger Falana, Jr.
