Gertrude Parkes, age 96 passed away peacefully on March 03, 2022 after a long illness. She was born on September 17, 1925 in Higgins Land in the parish of St Ann Jamaica. She married her longtime friend and love the late Vincent Parkes in March of 1959 who preceded her in death in 2005. She was the sixth of ten children born to parents Helen and Joseph Gilzene. The mother of: Jasper, Leroy, Annmarie, Pauline, Carlilse, Lambert, Lorna, William, and Lenworth. Gertrude loved to love on people so many affectionately called her Mama, Coolie, or Ms. Coolie. Mama has made an indelible impact on the lives of many whom she has assisted in one way or the other. She was a very jovial, loving and caring person. She was loved by many and will be missed dearly.
Gertrude leaves behind to mourn her loss (9) nine children, (36) thirty-six grandchildren, (59) fifty-nine great grandchildren and (15) fifteen great-great grandchildren, sister, nieces, nephews, daughters & sons-in-law and other relatives and numerous friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022 @ 5:00pm – 7:00pm
