Obituary for Joan Jenkins (Hutchins)

Joan Hutchins Jenkins life began June 18, 1960, to Willie and Marie Fleming Hutchins and her Eternal life began February 13, 2022, after bravely battling cancer. The 1st of 7 children, Joan grew up in Palm Beach County: in Pleasant City where she spent most of her time between her late Mother, Marie Fleming Hutchins, and her late Maternal Grandmother Annie Kate Hodges’ home.
Joan attended schools in Palm Beach County and studied at PCI in Broward County. She worked various jobs, but she truly enjoyed driving for PBC County School District, Bus One Charter Companies, and Palm Beach County Palm Tran.
Joan was a dedicated Wife and Mother who treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren embracing every moment with them. In 1999, Joan met Kelvin R. Jenkins, and not much later this love resulted in their nuptials on August 9, 2002. Now 20 years later, he honors their union with love and over abundant respect. Joan was a remarkable Event Planner, who enjoyed celebrating, and preparing meals for her family and friends, most especially over the holidays. She had an amazing sense of humor and a beautiful laugh! She made everyone laugh with her outrageous and exaggerated facial expressions and witty sayings. She was extremely kind, generous, always had a vivacious personality and made friends everywhere she went.
Until her health condition made it impossible, she was an active member serving as a Ministry Director for the Greeters, Sunday School Teacher, Vice-President of the Usher Ministry, worked with the Children’s Ministry, Secretary of the Pastor’s Aides Ministry, and Community Group Leader for the Bowling League at the Orthodox Zion Primitive Baptist Church. Her ministry efforts also included being a founding member of the Praise Dance Team at BibleWay Missionary Baptist Church.
Joan will be desperately missed by all those that she’s left behind. Our hearts are so broken by this unexpected loss. She was one of a kind, and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
She leaves to cherish fond memories:
