Obituary for Jorge Puig Sr.

Jorge Puig Sr (Papa) was born on July 28, 1960, in El Vedado, Havana, Cuba to Adela and Raymundo Puig. He was the first of three children. He fell asleep in death on April 18, 2022, at 61 years of age.

As a young child at only 61⁄2 yrs old, Jorge and his family immigrated to the United States in 1967 to Miami Beach, Florida and after 2yrs they settled in West Palm Beach, Florida. He attended Twin Lakes High School and soon after started his family in 1978 with the marriage of his first wife, Debra, and their three children, Jorge, Michelle, and Anthony. Later he married his love, Elizabeth (Eli), in January 2015.

Jorge had a unique way of connecting and bonding with people, which made a lasting impression on everyone he met along the way. As a mentor, problem solver, and confidant he could always make you feel that “it’s going to be alright”. He was truly an open book and would tell some amazing true stories, and as a loyal brother, father, and friend, you could always count on him to fulfill his word. Jorge had a strong relationship and love for his grandfather, Antonio Torres, and would often say it was from him that he developed his deep love and devotion to his family.

Anyone who knew him would agree that he could be described as a man that demanded respect and loyalty, from everyone. He was loving, opinionated, proud of his Cuban heritage, a hard worker, fun-loving, and the life of the party. In keeping with family tradition and character traits, Jorge was an avid fisherman who truly loved the ocean. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends, boating, fishing, vacationing, playing dominos, and listening to Country music.

Jorge, who was affectionately known as “Papa” to his children and eight grandchildren, to his friends as “Big Jorge”, and to his old friends “El Chulito”, will be greatly missed! We look forward to the day when we can see him again.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his parents Adela Puig and Raymundo Puig, his wife Elizabeth Puig, his brothers Raymundo Puig and David Puig, his children, Jorge Luis Puig Jr., Michelle Puig, and Anthony Puig, his grandchildren Alex, Gabriel, Mariah, Jaelynn, AJ, Diego, Jorge Luis III, and Cynthia, and his nieces and nephews, Jael, Ryan, Katerina, Ana Marie, David Marco, Marcus, Juliette, Tatiana, Natalya, and Miguel, and his grand nieces and nephews, Aaliyah, Brandon Jr., Antonio, Alanis, and Wylder.
