Obituary for Leslie Haye

Leslie Washington Haye Jr. was born in Hanover, Jamaica, West Indies, to proud parents Leslie Washington Sr. and Madge Haye nee Harris. He was the first of twelve children.

Leslie attended Miss Amy Forester’s Preparatory School in Hertford, Westmoreland, Jamaica. Leslie then attended Petersfield Primary School, Frome Secondary School, Frankfield Comprehensive High School, and Green Island Secondary School.

He joined the Jamaica Defense Force (JDF) and later relocated to Westmoreland, Jamaica. During his time there, he encountered beautiful experiences that resulted in the birth of his son Miguel Haye and daughters Jacqueline Haye & Stacy-Ann Haye. He was employed in Negril, Jamaica, at the Sandals Hotel as a security guard and later at Gran Ledo Hotel as a chef.

During this time, Leslie transitioned to Orange Bay, Jamaica, and purchased his first home, which was a significant achievement. Later on, he met Morna Green through his brother, Michael Haye, and it was love at first sight. The relationship blossomed and resulted in their wedding in Savanna-La-Mar, Westmoreland, Jamaica, on December 24th, 1994.

Leslie then migrated to the United States of America where he attended North Tech Educational Center wherein he received his GED and Chef certificate. After a few chef jobs, he was fortunate to obtain employment as a Professional Chef at the prestigious Lourdes Noreen McKeen: Luxury Retirement Community. As an associate, he worked assiduously and was promoted from Sous Chef to Kitchen Supervisor, retiring after 21 years of exemplary service. Leslie owned and operated Blue Horizon Lawn Services and served the community of West Palm Beach faithfully for ten years.

Leslie was a man of faith and became a member of the Lighthouse New Testament Church of God for 11 years, where he served as Men’s Ministry President and then later, Deacon. Leslie then transitioned to Faith Cathedral Worship Center and served as a choir member in the prestigious Voices of Praise. Leslie later attended Reviving Anointed Word Ministries, where he immensely enjoyed the worship. Despite his busy schedule, he still found time to volunteer his services in the community by sharing meals and prayers with the homeless and mentoring young men in his church and on his job.

Leslie, affectionately called “Tony” by his family members and close friends, touched many lives and will be greatly missed. He was a man of God who was full of light, love, and positivity. Leslie lived a pure life and loved deeply from the heart. He forgave quickly and desired that his family would continue to grow closer in love and harmony.
