Obituary for Marie Andrews

With great sadness, the Andrews family announces the passing of our matriarch, Marie K. Andrews. She closed her life book here on earth on February 14, 2022. She was a loving and giving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, congregant and friend.
Marie was born in Dublin, Georgia on March 3, 1937, to the late Serlina and Robert L. Knight Sr. She then moved to Belle Glade, FL with her parents at the age of 7 and later to West Palm Beach, FL. She was the eldest of four siblings: Mildred Jones-Smith, Robert L. Knight, Jr. and Annie R. Howard.

Marie attended and graduated from Roosevelt High School Class of 1957. After graduating, she was employed with the Palm Beach County School District. She worked as a cook in the school cafeteria. She learned to cook at an early age, therefore she was known for her tremendous cooking skills. After being employed by the P.B.C. School District for many years, Marie became the owner of Mickey’s Food Inc. She catered food for the staff and students at Palm Beach Day School in Palm Beach, FL alongside her sweetheart Edward Andrews for 40 years until her retirement.

Marie and Edward were united in Holy Matrimony and remained married for over 53 years. To this union, three daughters and two sons were reared; Wanda, Gayle, Marla, Eldrick and Edward Jr.

In the community Marie was a longtime member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church and Treasurer of the Hibiscus Club. She was also a member of The Scaler’s Women’s Federated Club. Roosevelt High School Class of 1957, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary Post 199. She was loved by all who truly knew her and had a smile that would brighten up any room. She had a giving heart and beautiful soul.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Edward Andrews, Sr. She leaves to cherish her memories: Two (2) daughters; Wanda M. Crockett and Marla D. Andrews (Todd) of West Palm Beach, FL, and two step-sons Eldrick Andrews (Sonya) of West Palm Beach, FL and Edward Andrews, Jr. of Staten Island, NY; Two (2) sisters; Mildred Jones-Smith and Annie R. Howard; One (1) brother Robert L. Knight, Jr. (Lisa); one brother-in-law, Floyd Andrews (Annette) of West Palm Beach, FL; Four (4) grandchildren: Eldrick Andrews Jr., Shakara D. Mainor, Jade Abbott (Joel) and Skyler Green; three (3) great grandchildren: Ariana Andrews, Jaél Abbott, Jace Abbott, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and sorrowful friends.
Preceding her in death are her beloved parents: Robert and Serlina Knight and her daughter Nina Gayle Mainor.
