Obituary for Wyatt Grimsley III

Mr. Wyatt T Grimsley III, was born to the late Wyatt T. Grimsley Jr.,
and Rachel J Garrett-Grimsley, on August 13, 1964 in the County of Queens, New York. Affectionately known by his father as “Charlie Brown”, and called “Wa “by his baby brother Daryl when they were younger had a devoted mother who loved him.

Wyatt said she would come to him in spirit, and ask, ” if he was okay”. Both
his parents loved him unconditionally as we all did. Wyatt always looked out for others, and was our big brother, and a protector. His heart never changed from caring for others.

Wyatt accepted Christ at an early age. He and his siblings Belinda and Daryl and cousins Ronald, Allen and Vivian attended Sunday School every Sunday. Later in life he attended Sunday Service, and attended bible classes at Allen AME Church in Jamaica New York.

Wyatt attended PS37, IS59, and Springfield Gardens High School. For a short period of time Wyatt Grimsley worked at Grumman Corporation, the same company his father retired from.

Wyatt was no average man. He had many challenges in addition to his illnesses later on in life. Beating the odds he built a legacy for himself. He purchased a home for himself, bought and drove a car even though he had not driven in over a decade.

Wyatt never looked down on anyone. He did not feel anyone should judge another person. He would fondly say, “I am good Linda.” He shared his finances and was very generous to others. He literally would give people the shirt off his back. He would take off new sneakers and give them to homeless strangers on the street. He would buy food, and BBQ and feed people he didn’t even know. He was not a materialistic person at all. Finance did not matter to him. What mattered to him most was his love for God and the love he had for his family! Wyatt loved

Wyatt was known as a people person and he loved life. He had a strong will, determination, strength and was very independent. He fought his illnesses like a warrior. You couldn't help but love him, and admire his spirit. He was always smiling especially when he was in your presence and when he was listening to music. We all knew he could get under your skin yet it wasn't personal. He said what he meant and was always the bigger person by saying, “ I'm sorry and I love you”, if he felt he was wrong.

Wyatt passed away Sunday November 20, 2022 at Montefiore Hospital, New York. He leaves to cherish fond memories: sister Belinda and her husband Kevin Jemmott, brother Daryl Grimsley, and sister-n-law Carmela.

Four nephews who love him so much. Tramale, Sean, Johnathan, Nathanael and two nieces that adore him. Siearra, and Alison. His son who he loved Dashaun, Sabrina, three grandchildren Leo, Rico, Draco Grimsley. His oldest best childhood friend Paul Sawyer, and his wife Andrea.
